2003 vs 2007

all those who find MS Office 2007 user friendly hands up.. i for one still find 2003 much more user friendly than 2007.. for those who have been using 2003 for long changing over to 2007 might be a bit weird because of the way the tool bars are organised.. but the ONE thing that made me switch back to 2003 was the ADVANCED FIND function in Outlook..

InĀ 2007 it was a monstrous mission to find any mails from any specific folder.. the indexing function was ridiculously slow.. in 2003 the right click-on the folder-advance find is a great and quick option of finding any mails..

if there is anyone reading this and use outlook 2007 and has any other way of searching the folders, pls share..

  1. I had this same issue. However, I found the trusty “advanced find” buried in the Tools->Search menu or by pressing Ctrl+Shift+F”.
I didn’t like Instant Search because it seemed to also want to install the Windows Desktop Search, which is a serious system resource hog and (unless otherwise configured) tries to index all your drives all the time. Not cool.

I found that Outlook is probably the one part of Office 2007 that was most like the 2003 counterpart. It took me a couple of weeks, but I finally got used to the new interface (although I still stumble occassionally).

    Later,
    Scott

  2. thanks for the tip Scott.. maybe someday i will also get used to 2007..
